Challenges of Effective Partnership

Hello everyone!

One of the challenges of effective partnership with healthcare organizations in program design, is the need for patient family partners to understand the context of the project to the organization. We've learned that the more advisors know about the objectives for an engagement opportunity and understand what the organization desires from patient family partners, the higher value the engagement brings. When we don't understand why we are in the room or what the organization hopes to gain, we often fall back to our own ideas about why we believe PFE is so critical. Recently, I had the experience of speaking to a group of leaders about why PFE is so critical to improving healthcare. Unfortunately, I didn't recognize that the group was already bought in to the concept fully. So instead of moving them forward in their thinking from where they were, I was speaking behind them. I missed the moment. Has this ever happened to you? How to ensure you are prepared for effective partnership? Bring your ideas for maintaining good alignment or other strategies for increasing the value you bring to your patient family partnership role to the TownHall meeting on Wednesday, August 10th.

Be well,
