Joan Maxwell has 40+ years of experience in the fashion industry, working for retailers and brands.  She spent 14 years at Vera Bradley as VP of Merchandising, creating a strong brand image and customer experience.  It was thru that lens that Joan became a patient at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, and became passionate about the patient experience.  She is currently a Senior Advisor for MakerSights, a tech start up in the Bay Area.  She has been an advisor on the Patient & Family Advisory Committee at John Muir Health since its inception in 2015.  Joan is also working on a national level to encourage the voice of the patient in health care discussions.  Currently, she is on the Advisory Board of PFCCpartners, the Cal Hospital Compare Technical Advisory Board, the NQF Task Force: Driving Value through the Next Generation of Quality (Clinical & Quality Alignment Sub-Committee), and National Quality Forum's Patient & Caregiver Engagement Advisory Group.
