Barbara Kivowitz

California

Barbara is a clinician, consultant, and author specializing in health care innovation. She works with health care systems nationally to help them shift to more relationship-based models of care. She is the author of Love in the Time of Chronic Illness: How to Fight the Sickness, Not Each Other - a guide for patient-caregiver partners and for the clinicians who help them. She has delivered programs based on her book to clinicians at Sutter Health, Stanford Health Care, UCSF, Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Center. She is a frequent speaker at conferences for patient-caregiver groups. 

Barbara served on the Board of Directors of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. She is currently on the Board of Directors of San Francisco Village and on the Honorary Board of the Well Spouse Organization. She is on the Patient and Family Advisory Councils of Sutter Health, CPMC, and Stanford Health Care. 

Barbara received a graduate degree from Harvard University in Comparative Literature and speaks four languages. She received her MSW from Simmons School of Social Work with a concentration in community mental health.
